About me
I started racing in 2009. I had a couple of road bikes and always wanted to race after many years of going to the NW200. I bought a damaged SV650 road bike and converted it to a race bike, I done my licence training days in Kirkistown in Febuary 2009 and that was the first time I had been on a race track, it was some experience and I regret not starting to race ealier. Done my first race at Kirkistown on Easter Monday 2009, finished 16th of 24 in race one and 11th of 16 in race two. I done what ever rounds I could afford in 2009, 6 in total having a best result of 5th at Anglesey in Wales and finishing 12th overall in the Supertwins championship that year .
In 2010 I applied for my AR licence which intitles me to ride in the support classes on the roads. 2010 got off to a good start for me, the first race of the season at Bishopscourt I finished 7th, I finished 10th and 11th in the other two races at the meeting and collected my first ever prize money. I made my road race deput at the Cookstown 100 in the junior support class, I qualified 21 of 42 which put me last on the grid of the 'A' race, unfortunitly I came off on the last lap of the race only 3 corners from the chequerd flag, I was in ninth position at the time but had no idea because it was on corrected time, I broke my wrist, damaged my knee and wrecked my bike, it was a major set back in my 2010 plans and Cookstown turned out to be my only road race of the season, the bike needed well over £1000 in repairs and as I fund my own racing, money was already very tight. I missed the next ISB round on 6th of May and slowly got the bike and myself back together. My next race was at Kirkistown on 13th July, I wasn't sure how I or the bike would feel, the bike had a completely new front end and a new higher rear subframe and although I had got a run out on the bike the week before, it was the first time I had pushed myself in almost 3 months, the bike felt much better with the new set up, I was how ever having problems with false neautrals. I had my best ever result, 3rd place in race one and a 6th in race two, I left Kirkistown with a massive smile and a few more pounds in prize money for the kitty! I done 3 more rounds in 2010 and finished 9th overall in the Supertwins championship.
Roll on 2011!
